Reaching 62 storeys, the Bahria Icon Tower sets the standards for mega structures in Pakistan. With 10 floors of serviced corporate offices, 40 floors of serviced apartments plus restaurants and a shopping mall, the Bahria Icon Tower is a first-of-its-kind building, and required a drainage solution to match.

Working closely with the Fakhri Brothers, on behalf on the Bahria Town Group, Polypipe provided Terrain Above Ground Soil & Waste PVC drainage to the complex high-rise project.

Polypipe’s PVC Above Ground drainage was specified due to its high quality and ease of installation. The innate benefits of PVC, combined with the expertise of Polypipe’s design team, meant that pipes could be manufactured in longer runs, ensuring quicker installation and less opportunity for leaks, which is paramount in a building of this stature. The pipes can be solvent welded or push fit, depending on the demands of the build, with a wide range of connections and fittings.

Despite being its first major project supplied in Pakistan, Polypipe has a long standing history of supplying similar systems to other major high rise projects in the UAE and throughout the Gulf region. This experience, combined with a dedicated presence in the region, meant that Polypipe was able to provide the highest levels of customer service and technical support possible.

With drainage in tall buildings being notoriously difficult, the project required the expertise of Polypipe in the design and manufacture of the soil and waste system within the building. The extreme height of the Bahria Icon Tower required a very specific drainage system, which Polypipe International supplied direct to site, providing a project solution for the contractor while enabling work to begin as soon as the first containers arrived on site.

The Bahria Icon Tower project is set for completion in 2017.
